Final Challenge Grant & Construction Update

Help us reach the finish line!

Red steel beams make up the frame of the new visitor and education centerSteel beams gleam in the sunlight at the Garden’s entrance. The building’s steel frame and siding will be completed by early July, 2018. Next, the roof, windows, and skylights will be installed. While the construction progress is quite visible, what can’t be seen is the remaining funds that must be raised to complete the final stage of construction. Donations or pledges made before the end of December, 2018, will be matched as part of a $1.15 million Matching Challenge Grant offered by the Coit and Simpson families. The parking lot, admissions kiosk, mosaic welcome walls, and redesigned Nursery are now open.

Thank you to our wonderful supporters! Construction is estimated to be completed by summer of 2019 – but only if we can raise the remaining $250,000.

We are currently in the process of raising bridge loans to help us continue construction while pledges and new gifts are being received.  Join the excitement by making a gift or multi-year pledge to ensure that construction stays on track and the Ruth Bancroft Garden continues to be a world-renowned attraction and example of how stunning a dry garden can be.

The building will feature historic exhibits of Ruth Bancroft. A children’s area will be off the patio, for parents and children to enjoy and learn. The Center will provide a place for educational symposia and build the Garden’s reputation in the scientific and landscaping community. A larger presence in the community will help spread the word about sustainable low-water landscaping – something that will make a huge difference in the changing environment. Community members will be able to rent the facility for private events, such as weddings and corporate retreats, which will bring additional revenue and visitors to the Garden.

Help us reach our goal by making a contribution today!
