January 2011: Planned Giving Tip of the Month

Leave a Legacy Without Giving Up Assets

A bequest in a will or trust is by far the most popular and one of the simplest ways to leave a lasting legacy. Many people consider a bequest the perfect way to make a gift. A bequest allows you the flexibility to use the asset if you need it. But at the same time, you become a part of the giving community of The Ruth Bancroft Garden by promising a gift in the future, helping to ensure that The Garden will thrive for years to come.

Bequests transfer cash, securities, retirement plan assets, life insurance policies, real estate, or other property, or a percentage or residue of your estate tax-free to the Ruth Bancroft Garden but leave you in complete control of your assets during your lifetime.

Sample Ruth Bancroft Garden bequest language is available at www.ruthbancroftgarden.org by going to “Support the Garden” and clicking on “Planned Giving.”
