Rate of pay: $20.66/hour
Shifts: 2-3 days/week, including weekends

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Ruth Bancroft Garden Nursery is hiring part-time seasonal Nursery Support Staff to join our nursery team for another busy spring season. Nursery Support Staff assist the nursery sales team in daily tasks throughout the nursery and provide basic customer service while performing support duties. This is an entry level position that does not require previous nursery experience. All duties are performed outdoors and require physical strength and stamina.
The Ruth Bancroft Garden is a world-renowned 3.5 acre botanical garden that houses a unique collection of cacti, succulents and other climate-adaptive plants from around the world. The garden serves as an excellent example of just how stunning a dry garden can be, while the nursery offers a curated assortment of plants that reflect the garden’s diverse collection.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet customers and guests; offer general customer service.
- Fill bags of soil and rock for retail sales.
- Water plants throughout the nursery and in backstock.
- Weed potted plants and the nursery grounds.
- Receive, unload, and process plant deliveries, including labeling and stocking the nursery.
- Restock, organize, and keep nursery displays clean throughout the day.
- Keep nursery grounds clean and free of trash, level out gravel paths, and keep carts organized.
- Assist customers in carrying heavy plants, pottery, and soil to their cars.
- Assist the nursery team with opening and closing the garden and nursery.
- Help prepare the nursery for sale events.
- Work major events as needed, including evenings and weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Friendly, engaging, and outgoing personality- this is a customer-facing position.
- Able to lift and carry 50 lbs safely and regularly.
- Able to stand for extended periods of time and work outdoors in hot weather.
- Self-motivated, able to take direction, and work independently and with a team.
- Able to switch priorities quickly and restart previous tasks as needed.
- Able to communicate respectfully with many types of personalities.
