(Webinar) Materiality in Gardens: Design & Environmental Stewardship
Wednesday, June 14 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am$15.00 – $30.00
Join Jennifer De Graaf, landscape architect (Lic. #5461), for a lecture on selecting and using recycled materials in your garden. Focusing on the non-plant elements in garden design, we will discuss how the selections we make for our outdoor spaces have farther-reaching implications we should be aware of. Learn about what to consider when removing or changing the older stuff (paths, furnishings, etc.) we already have. We will talk through an example thought path for these decisions and how to choose a material that is right for your application. The goal is to be aware of the lifecycle of a product or material, its environmental relationships, and durability and taking into consideration the ways a recycled material may or may not provide the aesthetic desired. With thoughtful attention to the design and construction of garden elements, recycled materials can go from looking haphazard to intentional.
Please note that this will be a live Zoom lecture and not a lecture at the Garden. After registration (see below), you will receive instructions and a Zoom link from the Program Director one day prior to the lecture. Registration will open 14 Jan 2023 and close on 14 June 2023 at 8am. This class is part of the Dry Garden Design Certificate Program series.
How it works: Register one person with one email at a time. If you would like to register multiple people, please register them each separately with separate emails. The webinar will be recorded and all registrants will receive a recording link via email within one business day. Once the recording is sent, you will have seven days to watch the lecture. After that time, the recording will expire. Access to the webinar recordings after the expiration date will be a charge of $15 (members) / $30 (non-members).
Cancellation and refund policy can be found here.
