(Webinar) Curator’s Highlight- Winter Rainfall Aloes

Wednesday, January 26 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

$15.00 – $25.00

Aloes occur along the length of the African continent, as well as to the north in Arabia and to the east in Madagascar, but the majority of those grown in California come from South Africa. These are found throughout the country, but this webinar will focus on those from the winter-rainfall region, in the western part of the country (the winter-rainfall area extends also into the southwestern corner of neighboring Namibia). Join Brian Kemble, Curator and world-renown aloe expert, to learn about some of these plants that have long been grown in California gardens, including Aloe distans (the “jeweled aloe”) and Aloe plicatilis (the “fan aloe”), which makes sense because of the climatic similarity between western South Africa and California. Others are more recent introductions into horticulture, like Aloe buhrii, but are rapidly gaining popularity here.

Please note that this will be a live, webinar and not a lecture at the garden.  Registration will close on 26 January 2022 at 8am.

How it works: Register one person with one email at a time. If you would like to register multiple people, please register them each separately with separate emails. Registered attendees will receive a Zoom link by email from the Program Director one day prior to the lecture.  The webinar will be recorded and all registrants will receive the recording within one business day.  Once the recording is sent, you will have seven days to watch before it expires.  Access to the webinar recordings after the expiration date will be a charge of $15 (members)/$25 (non-members).
