The barrel cacti are one of the most charismatic and iconic groups in the Cactus Family, and they are featured prominently in the plantings at the Ruth Bancroft Garden. Most of them belong to the genus Ferocactus, but a few are members of the similar genus Echinocactus – including the well-known Golden Barrel. Join Brian Kemble, long-time curator (who just celebrated his 40th year at the Garden), for a close look at this fascinating cactus group and their beautiful flowers, including shots of plants in their native habitats in Mexico and the southwestern U.S.
