(webinar) Curator’s Highlight- Agave (subenus Agave)

Saturday, July 18 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

$10 – $15

Please note that this will be a live, webinar workshop (offered via Zoom) and not a lecture at the garden. After registration (see below), you will receiver further instructions from the Program Coordinator prior to the workshop date. Registration will close on 18 July 2020 at 8am.

Agave is a large and diverse genus centered in Mexico, but extending northward into the southwestern United States, as well as southward to northern South America and eastward to the islands of the Caribbean. The larger-growing ones are often referred to as “century plants”, but there are dwarf species as well. The genus is divided into the subgenus Agave (plants with branching flower stalks, like the century plants) and the subgenus Littaea (plants with an unbranched flower spike).

Join Brian Kemble (who just celebrated his 40th year at the Garden) for this Agave webinar focusing on the subgenus Agave.  Many of the photos feature plants at the Ruth Bancroft Garden, as well as photos of plants in habitat taken over many years on many different trips.
