Join us for a special joint program with Flora Grubb Gardens (FGG) about dry garden palms. The featured speakers will be Jason Dewees, FGG staff horticulturist and author of Designing with Palms, and Cricket Riley, RBG Landscape Design Services Director.

The first event will be a one-hour guided walk through the grounds of the Ruth Bancroft Garden. This special after-hours tour offers a unique opportunity to explore the palm collection at the Garden, learn about their unique characteristics and gain insights about integrating them into a dry garden design.  Limited spots; registration required (below).

The second event will be a one-hour lecture in the Great Room where the speakers will delve into the world of captivating palms and the roles that they play in climate resilient gardens.  They will discuss the characteristic traits about these plants including their aesthetic functions, the feelings they can evoke, and the themes they can contribute in a garden space. Whether you’re a garden enthusiast, landscape designer, or simply intrigued by the beauty of palms, this lecture will provide you with valuable knowledge about the process of designing and planting with palms in a garden.  Cold non-alcoholic drinks and light snacks will be provided and registrants will have access to the Garden and retail Nursery until 7:30pm.  Special palm selections from Grubb & Nadler will also be available for purchase. Registration required.

Both events will take place on the same evening at the Garden but will require separate tickets; see below for the options.
