The San Francisco Branch of the Sogetsu School of Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement) is delighted to collaborate with the Ruth Bancroft Garden, presenting 20 unique and artistic Ikebana arrangements in an exhibit in the Visitor and Education Center.
The modern, avant garde Sogetsu School was founded in 1927 by Mr. Sofu Teshigahara, a pioneer of the progressive arts movement in Japan. For more than 40 years, the San Francisco Bay Area Branch has taught the art of Sogetsu Ikebana in the Bay Area. Sogetsu Ikebana freely incorporates a mix of natural and unconventional materials which stretches the traditional definition of Japanese flower arranging. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to view the creations of local Ikebana artists.
Exhibit will be open for viewing during garden/nursery open hours.
