(Lecture) Agaves: Garden Focal Points
Saturday, July 11 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
$20.00 – $35.00Event Navigation

Join us for a special in-person lecture with longtime curator Brian Kemble, whose 46-year career has been defined by a deep passion for growing, hybridizing, and studying agaves both in cultivation and in the wild. A leading authority on these striking plants, Brian has spent decades exploring their diversity, from widely used landscape varieties to exceptionally rare species discovered in habitat.
Fresh from presenting at the American Public Gardens Association’s annual convention, Brian will share his insights on agaves as powerful focal point plants, the wide range of genera found in the nursery trade, and the fascinating stories behind rare and unusual species. Drawing from both field experience and decades of hands-on horticulture, this lecture offers a rare opportunity to learn from one of the foremost experts in the field.
Following the talk, a limited-capacity tour (get tickets here) will offer an up-close look at select specimens, along with a special sale featuring rare agaves from Brian’s private greenhouse.
We are celebrating Agaves all month with additional programming – see all the offerings (including a lecture, tour and special sales) here.
Those signing up for both the lecture and tour will be entered into a drawing to win a special agave from the curator’s private greenhouse.
