Junior Botanist- Prickly Pear Fruit Tasting
Saturday, October 19 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am$5
“Junior Botanist” is a new program aiming to give children a deeper understanding of a specific garden topic. For the month of October, our topic is ethnobotany and Junior Botanists will learn about Opuntia; what they look like, geographic location and how they adapted to live in hot and arid climates. We will taste the prickly pear fruit from several different species of Opuntia. (Tasting the actual fruit is voluntary.)
This workshop is suitable for 9-12 year-olds.
This is a drop-off workshop, but parents are welcome to stay around and explore the nursery and garden. (Garden admission or membership required to enter the garden for the adults.)
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations up to 1-week prior to a class are subject to a 25% cancellation fee. Cancellations less than 1-week prior to a class are non-refundable. The Ruth Bancroft Garden does not issue credits for future classes.
