This Giving Tuesday, the Ruth Bancroft Garden and Nursery is asking for your support. We are a community-funded non-profit and rely on your help to continue upholding our mission of conservation, preservation, and education.

We honor Ruth Bancroft’s dedication to creating a Garden that many have come to admire, learn from, and love. When she first planted the Garden she was in her 60s and many questioned why she would start a garden that she would never live to see grow. Ruth’s response was, “Well, who cares if I’m around or not? Someone will be around. And if I don’t plant it then nobody will get to see it.”

We believe in the power of dry gardening to create climate resiliency and help combat the climate crisis. You can help us preserve Ruth’s Garden as an example of the longevity and beauty of planting with drought-tolerant and climate-appropriate plants and provide the public with resources on how to build a waterwise wonderland all their own. A donation to the Garden is an investment in not only Ruth’s Garden, but in our education programs for adults and youth that promote the importance of sustainable gardening, our Design Services that help clients create the waterwise home garden of their dreams, and our staff to enable them to build new programs, reach new communities, and provide access to the Garden.
