$30.00 – $45.00Event Navigation

First Three Wednesdays in November from 10-10:45AM
Do you have a child 18-36 months old? Are you looking for children’s activities in the East Bay area? Garden Buds is a 3-week long program where your child will meet the same friends each week. It is an opportunity to practice social skills in an outdoor setting while developing an interest in nature with hands-on activities. The classes will only use sustainable and natural materials for all craft activities. The program will provide early education in basic plant knowledge, hands-on plant based activities and seasonal experiences exclusive to the Ruth Bancroft Garden.
In November, our Garden Buds will be learning about foliage in the Garden. In this series, they will learn about trees, leaves, and pine needles and they’ll view examples throughout the Garden. Garden Buds will explore and work with natural found plant materials. Every session will include songs, a book reading, crafts and more!
The price is per child per event series – the November series has 3 classes:
November 1st | 10AM – All About Leaves
The first class is about the difference between leaves and needles. We will read Leaf Jumpers by Carole Gerber, go for a garden walk, search the sensory bins and make a magnificent leaf crown.
November 8th | 10AM – All About Pine Cones
The Garden Buds will look for pinecones on their garden walk. Not all pinecones look the same and some even have edible seeds. Back at the Nook, the Buds will get creative and turn a pinecone into an animal to take home.
November 15th | 10AM – Holiday Paint-a-Pot
Last class! Miss Marie will share some of her holiday traditions from Sweden. Therefore, we will sing and dance around the tree in the Nook! The buds will make an unconventional holiday tree to take home.
One caregiver can accompany per child. If siblings, one caregiver can attend with two children. The price is per child.
