Wednesdays in February from 10-10:45AM
Do you have a child 18-36 months old? Are you looking for children’s activities in the East Bay area? Garden Buds is a 4-week long program where your child will meet the same friends each week. It is an opportunity to practice social skills in an outdoor setting while developing an interest in nature with hands-on activities. The classes will only use sustainable and natural materials for all craft activities. The program will provide early education in basic plant knowledge, hands-on plant based activities and seasonal experiences exclusive to the Ruth Bancroft Garden.
In February, our Garden Buds will be learning about Aloes in the Garden. February is when aloes are in bloom at the Ruth Bancroft Garden. The red, orange and yellow flowers attract hummingbirds. Our Garden Buds will learn that aloes are succulent plants that can store water but, just like other plants, they need sun, air and water to bloom. The Buds will explore and work with naturally found plant materials. Sessions will include songs, book readings, crafts and more!
The price is per child per event series – the February series has 4 classes:
February 7th | 10AM – All About Aloes
Our Garden Buds will get acquainted and start to learn about Aloes and how they are succulent plants.
February 14th | 10AM – Lovely Paint-a-Pot
The Buds will paint Valentine pots and plant succulents.
February 21st | 10AM – All About Hummingbirds
Learn about hummingbirds and decorate a hummingbird feeder.
February 28th | Spiral Hunting
The spiral is a shape that appears over and over in nature. We will look for examples in the Garden.
One caregiver can accompany per child. If siblings, one caregiver can attend with two children. The price is per child.
