Join us from 10:00 am – 11:00 am for a fascinating exploration into the strange and captivating world of carnivorous plants.
From 11:00 – 1:00 we will also have carnivorous plants for sale!
The lecture will include:
- Introduce well-known genera like Drosera (sundew), Nepenthes (tropical pitcher plant) , Sarracenia (American pitcher plant), Pinguicula (butterworts)
- Highlight species native to California
- Delve into the unique evolutionary adaptations that allow these plants to trap and digest insects
- Learn how to best grow them, and because the lecture is at the Ruth Bancroft Garden
- Spotlight a few unusual SUCCULENTS that eat bugs!

About the Speaker
A lifelong gardener with a passion for the weird and wonderful, Stephen Davis specializes in carnivorous plants. He gives lively talks to garden clubs, libraries, and schools, blending science, humor, and hands-on experience to bring the weird world of bug-eating plants to life.
