(Webinar) CA Natives in Dry Gardens

Wednesday, September 22 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

$15 – $20

Please note that this will be a live, webinar workshop (offered via Zoom) and not a lecture at the Garden. After registration (see below), you will receive further instructions from the Program Director prior to the workshop date. Registration will close on 22 September 2021 at 8am

Learn the horticultural methods to incorporate accessible California native plants in your water-wise garden.  Join Mariano Resendiz for a lecture about how you can create a habitat for beneficial wildlife including native pollinators and soil microorganisms that requires less pesticides, fertilizer, and water. Be a part of the change to restore our special native ecosystem while creating beautiful landscapes!

Mariano is a bay area native and research scientist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture studying methods for the floral downregulation of Parthenium argentatum for the upregulation of natural rubber concentration via Agrobacterium tumafaciens -mediated transformation. He is also a horticulture instructor at Diablo Valley College teaching on topics about plant propagation, plant taxonomy, and introduction to horticulture and plant science. He’s interested in the diversity of plants and their uses especially when related to their ethnobotanical significance and how they can be useful to society at large today.
