(Webinar) Basic Botany

Saturday, September 19, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

$10.00 – $15.00

Please note that this will be a live, webinar workshop (offered via Zoom) and not a lecture at the garden. After registration (see below), you will receiver further instructions from the Program Coordinator prior to the workshop date. Registration will close on 19 September 2020 at 8am.

Botany is full of technical terms with Latin or Greek names, which can be like a thicket that’s hard to penetrate.  Join Brian Kemble, Curator, for a session to help shed some light on all this, with clear explanations of the parts of a flower, the meanings of Latin prefixes and suffixes often seen in plant names, and other helpful insights.

Brian will be focusing on a dry garden plant palette (ex. cacti, succulents and drought tolerant plants) and by the end of the class, you’ll learn how to recognize the basic parts of a plant as well as identify different leaf types and flower parts.
