The Ruth Bancroft Garden, Contra Costa Water District (CCWD) and East Bay Municipal Utility District  (EBMUD) have partnered to offer you the opportunity to take a self-guided tour of 17 home gardens in Walnut Creek and Concord, which showcase the beauty and diversity that waterwise gardens can offer.

A waterwise landscape doesn’t just mean “prickly cacti.” There are many other options for climate-appropriate plants that will make your garden beautiful, conserve water and offer natural food sources for butterflies, bees and other local pollinators. This self-guided tour will showcase lawn-to-garden conversion projects up close, and give you the opportunity to talk to the homeowners and designers about the conversion process, their plant choices and overall experiences.

The tour will be on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 9 am – 4 pm with a lunch break from 12 pm – 1 pm.  Lunch is not provided. This event will take place rain or shine.

Tickets are $25 and include admission to The Ruth Bancroft Garden on April 26 as part of the tour.

Space is limited, and registration is required.  After registration, we will send you an email on Thursday, April 24, with details about the self-guided tour.

All gardens are within a seven-mile radius of the Ruth Bancroft Garden. You must provide your own transportation and can explore each garden at your own pace.
